Student Research Awards

undergraduate awards
Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research Awards are presented each year
at the Spring banquet. We offer two opportunities for student research
awards: (1) Student Research Grants and (2) Outstanding Achievement
Awards. The Student Research Grants are designed to offer financial
support (up to $250) to assist students to pursue their research
interests with a member of IUP's faculty. All undergraduate and
graduate students are eligible and encouraged to apply. Applications
consist of a short summary describing the proposed research project,
a recommendation letter from your faculty advisor, and a brief description
of how the funds will be used. Send packets to IUP Sigma Xi c/o
Ed Donley, Mathematics Department, 215 Stright Hall. The deadline
is April 15, 2005, for research projects to be conducted during Summer and Fall 2005.
In addition, Sigma Xi offers Outstanding Achievement Awards
given to undergraduate and graduate students who show exceptional
promise in their research endeavors. Please consider nominating
strong students from your department for these awards; such recognition
means a lot to promising students and highlights their achievements
as they pursue postgraduate opportunities. Student research awards
are generally presented to the student in the form of a certificate
and a $50 prize.
The deadline for Spring 2005 has not yet been set.
