    Required work

    • Review Section 10.2 "Analyzing Data" on pages 436 through 451
    • Exercises 1 and 3 on page 454. You may use your own quantitative data for Exercise 1, but please be sure to give complete reference information or a complete description of how you collected your data.

    Optional work

    • Exercises 1, 2, and 4 on pages 451 and 452
    • Compute the mean and median for any other quantitative data you find or collect. Please be sure to give complete reference information or a complete description of how you collected your data.

  2. Due Tuesday, January 27

    Required work

    • Review pages 443 through 446 on Standard Deviations
    • Exercise 7 on pages 454 and 455

    Optional work

    • Exercise 6 on pages 454
    • Exercises 6 and 7 on page 452

  3. Due Thursday, January 29

    Required work

    • Read Section 11.1 "Probability and Simple Experiments" on pages 485 through 494
    • Exercises 21 and 22 on page 456. Note that we will usually report "standard deviations" in place of variances.

    • Exercise 24 on pages 454
