    • Exercises 21 and 22 on page 456. Note that we will usually report "standard deviations" in place of variances.

    Optional work

    • Exercise 24 on pages 454
    • Exercise 20 on pages 456

  2. Due Tuesday, February 3

    Required work

    • Read Section 11.2 "Probability and Complex Experiments" on pages 500 through 511
    • Exercises 16 and 17 on page 499.

    Optional work

    • Any of Exercises 1 through 5 and 7 through 13 on pages 495 and 496. Please remember to show your work!

  3. Due Thursday, February 5

    Required work

    • Review pages 504 through 511 in Section 11.2
    • Exercise 3 on pages 513. Please fill in the probabilities of the events along the branches and at the end of each branch.

    Optional work

    • Exercises 4 and 5 on pages 510
    • Exercises 2, 4, 5, and 6 on pages 513 and 514
