Required work
- Visit the "Simulating Probability Situations using Box Models" page at the NCTM Illuminations Web site (http://illuminations.nctm.org/imath/6-8/BoxModel/student/index.html).
- Follow the directions under the heading "Sample Activity: Flipping a Coin." Write down your answers to the questions given in the bulleted list.
- Try the box model simulation at the bottom of the page, and write down your answer to the request "Describe and explain any patterns you see."
Optional work
- Explore alternative situations in the "Box Model" simulation. For example, can you simulate the rolls of a fair six-sided die?
