    Required work

    1. Visit the "Simulating Probability Situations using Box Models" page at the NCTM Illuminations Web site (http://illuminations.nctm.org/imath/6-8/BoxModel/student/index.html).

    2. Follow the directions under the heading "Sample Activity: Flipping a Coin." Write down your answers to the questions given in the bulleted list.

    3. Try the box model simulation at the bottom of the page, and write down your answer to the request "Describe and explain any patterns you see."

    Optional work

    • Explore alternative situations in the "Box Model" simulation. For example, can you simulate the rolls of a fair six-sided die?
