The accompanying data resulted from a study of the efficacy of treatments for chapped lips. Volunteer subjects suffering from chapped lips were recruited. Those who were willing to go without treatment were placed into the "None" group, and the others were randomized between "Stick Balm" and "Lip Balm".
The response variables that were assessed included an Expert Rater's Grade, evaluated before the treatment began and again after eight days, and a Water Loss Rate measurement, again recorded before any treatment and after eight days. From these measurements differences were calculated to represent the change over the eight day study.
