IUP Annual Mathematics Competition
Each year the Mathematics Department at IUP sponsors a Mathematics Competition
for high school students. This year is our 44th year of sponsoring this event.
The competition includes problems from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and other topics which are
included in the secondary mathematics curriculum. No calculus is included. Each school is limited to a
maximum of ten students each. Students from any grade may participate but it is suggested that your most
capable students enroll. Calculators are not permitted.
Plaques are awarded to the top six individual winners as well as to the top student in grades 9, 10, 11,
and 12. Trophies in Division I (larger enrollment schools) and Division II (small enrollment) are
awarded to the top three teams in each division. A team score is the sum of the top three individual scores
from a school.
If you are interested, please read the letter sent to high
schools. If you plan to participate, you may fill out an
online registration form by March 28, 2008.
Additional information
can be obtained from the competition coordinator, Kimberly Burch.
If your school is not on our mailing list and you wish to be,
